Comet News: No School Monday, Conference Sign Up, First Friday Coffee and Conversation

Dear Families,

 

This week marked the beginning of fall. It’s also a time when beginning-of-year assessments are over, and students begin settling into the school year. We look forward to sharing student progress and next steps at family conferences in two weeks. 

 

As we continue to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, we are looking for help creating a Día de los Muertos ofrenda at Skyview. Please contact the office if you’d like to help set up an ofrenda.

 

There is no school for students on Monday. Enjoy the long weekend!

🎉 Good Things

• The Horizon Homecoming Spirit Bus stopped by Skyview on Monday! The high schoolers brought so much energy, music, and fun to our school!
• Thanks to all the families who joined us for Tuesday’s PTO meeting. We're starting to plan Trunk or Treat, one of our favorite events of the year!
• We have a new Family Liaison to help connect you with resources and build family engagement. Help us welcome Julia Torress to our community. Julia is bilingual in Spanish and has lots of experience engaging with families.

🏫 School Updates

Monday: No School – Staff Planning Day & Qdoba Spirit Night

There is no school on Monday. Teachers will be busy planning for conferences.

 

Instead of cooking on Monday night, join us for the Qdoba Spirit Night!

Thursday: October SHINE Assembly focusing on “Including Others”

The October SHINE habit is “Inclusive.” We will talk with students about what it looks like and sounds like to look outside their friendship circles to find others who might want to join in.  We will encourage our students to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and they belong.  

Friday: Coffee and Conversation

Everyone is welcome at Friday’s Coffee and Conversation with the principal. We’ll be celebrating our students of the month and answering your most pressing questions about Skyview. Join us in the library from 8:00-8:45.

Skyview can receive a donation every time you shop at King Soopers at no cost to you. Simply go to http://www.kingsoopers.com or for City Market Stores - go to http://www.citymarket.com. Colorado Gives Day

What is Colorado Gives Day? Over the years, Colorado Gives Day has evolved into the biggest 24-hour giving movement in the state, bringing in over $500 million since its inception in 2010. Each year, the people of Colorado unite with a shared common purpose: to elevate their community and neighbors by fueling the efforts of nonprofits that make a meaningful change.
