Dear Families,

 

Thanks for your support with our first week of school! It was a beautiful week of learning, reconnecting, and building relationships!

 

Each month we focus on a new SHINE habit. Self-control is the focus of August. We are working with students to show agency with their voices and actions by thinking first, then acting. Self-control is also about following teacher directions and voice levels.

 

We teach students these self-control strategies:

• Stop and breathe
• Count to 5 before acting
• The power of positive self-talk
• Walk away to regulate

 

Please reinforce the habit of self-control at home as well. Remind your child that having big feelings is normal AND learning what to do with those feelings is a superpower. 

🎉 Good Things

• Thanks for participating in Skyview’s first cheer tunnel on Tuesday! It was a great way to kick off the year with our students!
• We loved connecting with our kindergarten families at the Boo Hoo Breakfast. Celebrating this milestone together was a great way to get to know each other! 
• Each month we hold an all-school assembly to learn about our SHINE habits and celebrate students who show these habits. Today was our first assembly, and it was so much fun!

Tuesday: Papa John’s Fundraiser

Join us all day on Tuesday for the Papa John’s fundraiser! Huge thanks to PTO for organizing this event!

Safety Updates

On Back to School Night, we handed out this letter with important safety updates. It covers a few important changes to our protocols, including picking up students early and changes to families eating in the cafeteria with students. Please reach out with any questions. 

🐕‍🦺 No Dogs Allowed on School Grounds

Adams 12 policy prohibits dogs on school grounds, unless they are licensed service animals. Please keep all dogs off school grounds, including pickup and dropoff. This helps maintain a safe campus for everyone. 

📵Cell phones, Smart Watches, and Personal Device Policy

Adams 12 policy prohibits students from having cell phones, smart watches, tablets, or other personal electronic devices out during the school day. Please keep these devices at home or turned off in backpacks. Students using these devices will be directed to turn them off and put them away. Thank you for your cooperation with maintaining high-focus classrooms. 

🏦Online Payment Update

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to ensure families are aware that the district will transition from PayForIt to PaySchoolsCentral for online school-related payments.

Please note that meal payments will still be made through SchoolCafé. PaySchools Central will be used for other applicable school payments, including fees and other school-related items.

To help communicate this change, please include the information below in your school newsletter or other family communications:

Beginning with the upcoming school year, Adams 12 Five Star Schools will transition from PayForIt to PaySchools Central for online school-related payments. Families will use PaySchools Central to make applicable school payments, including fees and other school-related items. Meal payments will continue to be made through SchoolCafé. Additional information and instructions will be shared with families before the start of the school year.

An important reminder for families: Username and Password will remain the same; however, they must provide a valid form of payment in PaySchoolsCentral.  

We ask that you familiarize yourself with this new platform before the new school year begins as this will be where you will see and pay for any student fees.  This will be our primary way of paying fees as cash and check handling will be limited in our school.

Healthy Habits Start with Water Bottles

As a reminder, students should not bring coffee, energy drinks, sodas, or other sugary drinks to school, including drinks from places like Starbucks.

 

Water bottles are encouraged and help support a healthy learning environment for all students. Drinks high in sugar and caffeine can impact focus, behavior, energy levels, and learning throughout the school day. Our goal is to help students stay hydrated, focused, and ready to learn, even this last week of school.
